Apple to release v3.0 and new SDK features
Hey Apple fans, Apple on Thursday sent out invitations to select media about an event the company will hold at its Cupertino, Calif. headquarters on March 17, 2009. The event will focus on iPhone software 3.0, the next generation operating system for the device. The invitation doesn’t give any hints about what features the new software will have, but clearly indicates that we’ll get a look at them next Tuesday.
“Get an advance preview of what we’re building,” reads the invitation.
We will keep you posted on what we find out.

Oregon Trail comes to iPhone.
I used to love playing Oregon Trail when I was in school. We used to go to the computer lab and if I got all my math problems correct, I could play the game. For a game that was not like anything we have available to us today, it was highly addictive. I remember the Ox that ran away or died, that a friend’s name had pneumonia and/or died “in the game”, the robber who stole our goods, as this presented the questions of how would we ever survive? Such as life right? Yes, it was a good game, a timeless game! I’m happy it will be joining the iPhone world.
China Kung Fu’s the iPhone!
Aiya! There’s still no iPhone officially available in the world’s most populous country, the People’s Republic of China. Sure, Apple actually sells unlocked iPhones in Hong Kong and Taiwan in an attempt to lure the most affluent Chinese customers to their platform — and lets not forget the monstrous iPhone 2G black market — but absent homegrown carrier subsidies and support, it will never attain most-favored device status. Previously the problem was China Mobile wanting to strip out the 3G and WiFi. The latest holdup? The App Store, according to Interfaxchina (via Ars). China Mobile doesn’t seem to like the idea of Apple running its own software service right on the phone, and would prefer to handle all that on their own end. Heh. So would AT&T, Rogers, Vodafone, and all the other oppressive, myopic, oligopolistic carriers around the world. The lure of the iPhone and its data-gulping customers let Apple one-inch-punch their way right through that tired old carcass, but China…? China’s still wearing the iron vest of feature control furor. So the raised platform is set, the combatants have taken their corners, and the rules remain: knockout or knockoff. Who’s going to win this battle?
Duck Hunt for iPhone gets shot down!
“Duck Hunt” the game made popular by the original Nintendo Game console has turned into an iPhone game. However, this identical game play was developed by Deron Dantzler for the iPhone App store. Nintendo was not happy about the duplication and insisted that apple pull it from its store. I don’t believe you can still find it, but perhaps you can…. Happy Hunting.
iBabyRattle iPhone App for Babies?
“Shake Shake Shake” and the baby laughs. Shake some more and then their drooling mouths are all over their rattle toys. So someone thought of turning their iPhone into a “Baby Rattle??”. Cool idea, just make sure you don’t hand the iPhone to the baby to keep them quiet. Don’t be surprised if you see this though… I’m sure it’s going to happen. You can download this application at the iPhone App store. Let us know what you think?
